Ms. Emery joined the Albuquerque Girl Choir in 2023 and is excited to continue making music with the girls of Albuquerque!
Ms. Emery began singing at age 11 and has performed throughout New Mexico, Texas, and Europe. She attended Eastern New Mexico University, earning her Bachelor of Choral Music Education. She received her Master of Education in Mathematics from the University of Texas-Arlington.
Ms. Emery has guest-conducted choirs and adjudicated festivals throughout New Mexico. She currently serves as the president of the New Mexico Choral Directors Association.
She is also an active member of The National Association of Music Educators and American Choral Directors Association.
Cecilia McAfee, or Cici, is thrilled to be the Assistant Director for Albuquerque Girl Choir! Cecilia received her Bachelor’s of Music Education from ENMU in May 2023 and in her third year of teaching elementary music at two schools in APS. She has recently worked with Musical Theater Southwest as a Co-Director and Co-Music Director for Seussical Kids, the Assistant Music Director for Dogfight in June 2025, and is a chorus member in Opera Southwest. Prior to being a teacher, Cici worked as a Unit Director at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan and helped ENMU Choirs with their camps and All-State Prep days so she is ready for anything that comes her way. Having her musical background around voice and choir, she is excited and honored to step back into this world with Emery and the wonderful singers in the choir!
Ms. Jerri started directing the Albuquerque Girl Choir in 2005. She is also currently the Music Director at Central United Methodist Church. Ms. Jerri is a native of Honolulu, Hawaii. She began her music career at the age of 5, studying the violin and soloist with the Hawaiian Youth Symphony. Ms. Jerri is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory, where she earned her Bachelor of Music Education in voice, choral, and K-12 music. She received her Master's Degree in Music Education from Stanford University and a second Master's Degree, specializing in the Kodaly Music Education Method, from Holy Names College. Ms. Jerri taught choral music for 34 years in both public and private schools.
