We are always looking for new singers! No audition required!
Any singer in 2nd - 12th grade interested in learning more about the Albuquerque Girl Choir is encouraged to attend one of our Open House events at the start of each semester or visit one of our weekly rehearsals at First Presbyterian Church at 215 Locust St NE. Please check our Calendar below.
Founded in 1991, the mission of the Albuquerque Girl Choir is to provide a positive musical experience for girls as they learn music fundamentals through vocal training and performance in an upbeat, encouraging atmosphere. As members learn to express their joy in music, they experience personal growth and increased self-confidence. AGC is comprised of two groups that teach music fundamentals according to age and ability. As girls progress, they gain increasing competence with a variety of musical styles and vocal abilities. AGC is open to enrollment for any girl, grades 2nd - 12th, who loves to sing. No auditions are required.
Main Choir- 5:00 - 6:00 PM
The Main Choir welcomes girls in grades 2–12 and serves as the heart of the Albuquerque Girl Choir program. Choir members build strong musical skills and foundational knowledge through vocal training, music reading, and ensemble work. Repertoire includes unison and two-part music, with selections drawn from a variety of cultures and traditions. This choir fosters a love of singing, teamwork, and musical growth in a supportive and engaging environment.
Advanced Choir-5:30 - 6:45 PM
The Advanced Choir is an auditioned ensemble for students in grades 4–12, offering a challenging and enriching experience for developing musicians. Singers focus on advanced vocal technique, music theory, and performance skills while exploring a diverse and sophisticated repertoire. This choir provides opportunities for artistic growth, leadership, and high-level ensemble singing.
Rehearsals - Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at First Presbyterian Church at 215 Locust St NE in Albuquerque. The Prep and Main Choirs practice from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. The Advanced Choir rehearses with the Main Choir at 5:30 p.m. and has additional training until 6:45 p.m.
Performances - Because performance is part of our mission, we strive to schedule at least four performances per semester. In addition to traditional winter and spring concerts, past performances have included performing with other music groups such as the American Boy Choir, US Naval Academy Women’s Glee Club, Tucson Girl Choir, ABQ Boy Choir, and the ABQ Youth Symphony. Also, other past performances have been at the ABQ Botanical Garden’s River of Lights, the Balloon Museum’s Children’s Festival, Isotopes Ball Games, and frequent visits to local retirement centers. The performance schedule is updated on the Events page of this website and parents are also notified as dates are firmed up.
Cost - The Albuquerque Girl Choir is a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization. Registration is $300 per term (Aug-Dec and Jan-May) which helps us cover expenses for our two choir directors and accompanist, music, supplies, activities, and operational costs. Siblings of current members are eligible for a 20% discount. Financial assistance is available, including monthly payment plans and a limited number of half-scholarships distributed based on need. Please contact us for more information on these options.
