Girls in grades 2-12 Fees: Tuition is
$200/semester *. Audition fee is $10 for prospective members.
Additional expenses include cost of costumes and accessories and
fees for our annual mini retreat at Hummingbird Music Camp each
fall. *
Scholarship assistance is available based on need and available
funds.
Prep
Choir (Approx. Grades 2-3) Active participation
based on the theory of "rote before note - sound before sight" is
encouraged. The goal is to develop music thinking skills as well as
improvement in the level of musicianship through creativity,
improvisation and musical discipline. Girls will learn a variety of
songs from different styles, including both unison and part
singing. Directed by Emily Terry.
Mid
Choir (Approx. Grades 4-6) Girls will develop a
diverse repertoire that includes contemporary, classical, gospel,
folk, patriotic, seasonal, foreign and songs native to New Mexico.
AGC is the only choir in the state that routinely performs the state
song, "O Fair New Mexico." Girls will learn the discipline of
blending voices and singing parts using printed music and the
ear. Directed by Jerri Foster.
Senior
Choir (Approx. Grades 7-12) This choir is designed
for the more mature voice with advanced vocal and music experience.
The repertoire includes more sophisticated music - involving a
variety of classical, contemporary, and foreign selections - many
performed a cappella. Directed by Jerri Foster.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals: AGC practices will be in the choir room at La Cueva
High School, 7801 Wilshire Ave. NE. The school is located at the
cross streets of Wyoming and Wilshire, north of Paseo del Norte.
The choir room is on the south east side of the school.
Practice times will remain the same: Prep (grades 1-3) 4:30 - 5:30
p.m.; Mid (grades 4-6) 5:00 - 6:45 p.m.; and Senior (grades 7-12)
5:30-7:15 p.m.
New auditions are welcome. Please come to a practice corresponding
to the grade level of your daughter(s).
